  • Show Help turns help on and off.
  • Show Frames switches selection frames on and off, allowing you to see the areas in which you can type.
  • Show Color controls gridline color. Turning Show Color off will turn all gridlines black, which is preferred when printing to a black and white printer.

Templates
Once you’ve chosen the options that fit your needs, you’re ready to choose one of six templates.

  • Template 1 is a blank page. Use this template to write poems, letters, invitations, and so on. The text flows from the left in Template 1.
  • Template 2 is for spelling practice. Type your students’ spelling list in the left column, leaving the right column blank for students to practice writing the words. Or you can type words on alternating lines, allowing students to practice writing the words beneath the model. The direction line can be edited.
  • Template 3 is for vocabulary practice for students in Grades 1-2. Type vocabulary words in the left column. Students can illustrate the meaning of each word in the box provided. The direction line can be edited.
  • Template 4 is for vocabulary practice for students in Grades 3-8. Type students’ vocabulary words in the live frames (lines 1, 4, 7, and so on). Then, ask students to write the meaning of each word or to use the word in a sentence. The direction line can be edited.
  • Template 5 is an award certificate. Customize this award by writing the student’s name, the reason for the award, the presenter’s name, and the date. You must select Grades 3 & 4 to use this template.
  • Template 6 is a blank page with centered text. This template can be used for announcements that are sent home.

Entering and Deleting Text
Click the page to place the cursor and begin to type. At any time, you can delete what you’ve typed by clicking Clear on the screen or by manually hitting the “Backspace” key on your keyboard. Hitting Clear will clear all text within the frame. You can also click “Refresh” on your browser to start over. Hitting “Refresh” will completely reload the Web site, deleting all text in all templates and returning to the default for all options. If you need to run an activity onto a second page, complete and Print the first page, Clear the text, and begin to type the second page.

Spanish
Incorporate Spanish words into your lessons by clicking the Spanish button. Click on the template first to place the cursor. Then click on the appropriate Spanish character to place it on the page. Continue to type as you normally would, referring back to the Spanish palette whenever necessary.

Print
When you’ve finished creating your activity, click Print to send the page directly to your default printer.
