The Word Wisdom Instructional Plan

In every unit, students use three key strategies to UNLOCK the meanings of new words:

• Context Clues in Week 1
• Latin and Greek Roots in Week 2
• Reference Skills in Week 3

By completing activities such as Cloze Sentences, Matching Meaning, Sentence Construction, and Words in Context, students PROCESS new vocabulary as word meanings are reinforced.

Lastly, students access higher-level thinking skills as they APPLY new words in meaningful ways.

• Week 4 of each unit is devoted to reviewing and assessing the 30 unit vocabulary words.
