To commemorate the 50th anniversary of pivotal events in the Civil Rights movement, Hallmark Channel will present the film premier of The Watsons Go to Birmingham on September 20. Based on Christopher Paul Curtis’ award-winning book, the film explores the experiences of an all American family as they travel from Flint, Michigan to Birmingham, Alabama in the historic summer of 1963.
Featured as part of Hallmark Channel’s Friday family entertainment, Walden Family Theater, the film will be supplemented by an Educator's Resource that is based on the Zaner-Bloser Voices Curriculum. The resource—available for educators and parents—examines the film’s themes while integrating social-emotional learning, literacy, writing, and character education.
