From emails to blogs to presentations—effective writing in today’s knowledge-based society is essential. Yet, many students are lacking the writing skills necessary for success.
According to Dr. Steve Graham, professor at Arizona State University, there are at least seven skills students require in order to build a strong foundation for learning to write effectively. The recipe for success, Dr. Graham notes, is providing instruction for skills like handwriting and spelling—in addition to explicitly teaching students how to write.
