Studies have shown that professional development is essential to supporting teachers as they adopt new practices in their classrooms. Adding our professional development offerings, whether in the first year or in subsequent years of an adoption, improves teacher knowledge, results, and satisfaction.

Specific recommendations for Strategies for Writers and Superkids Reading Program adoptions are below. These include complimentary professional development services.

Complimentary Implementation Training
Implementation training for each teacher is provided at no charge in the first year of a new Strategies for Writers adoption. Implementation workshops are designed to help teachers understand the program materials, how they work, and how to use them effectively in the classroom. Training may be live or delivered via webinar or on-demand video, based on the size of the adoption. A separate training is provided for each grade level or grade-level span.

In addition to the complimentary implementation training in year one of an adoption, we recommend the following services.

Initial implementation training for administrators, coaches, and instructional leadership

Classroom coaching
Coaching visits provide one-on-one support for each teacher and may include lesson modeling and debriefing or observations with feedback, focusing on best practices for maximum results. We recommend two visits for each Strategies for Writers teacher.

Advanced training and coaching on digital materials
This training takes participants deeper into the Strategies for Writers digital materials and explores their many potential applications for classroom instruction.

Year Two and Beyond Recommended Package
To ensure continued success with Strategies for Writers, we recommend the following services after the initial implementation school year.

Initial implementation training for new Strategies for Writers teachers
Implementation workshops are designed to help teachers who are new to Strategies for Writers understand the program materials, how they work, and how to use them effectively in the classroom. Training may be delivered on-site and/or online.

Professional Development for Superkids Logo

Complimentary Services
Implementing a new reading program is hard work. Zaner-Bloser is dedicated to making the transition as easy as possible so that teachers and their students are successful in their Superkids implementation. The following services for teachers and administrators are provided at no charge in the first year of a new Superkids K–2 adoption.*

Implementation training
Implementation training, by grade level, is provided for all new Superkids teachers and support personnel. These half-day sessions (or 90-minute webinars) prepare teachers to implement the Superkids program.

Administrator training
This 90-minute session or webinar provides an overview of the entire K–2 program, equipping administrators with an understanding of the research basis of Superkids and best classroom practices.

One-on-one coaching
In year one, each Superkids teacher receives one complimentary visit from coaches who are highly trained primary educators. Classroom visits can include lesson feedback and discussion of topics chosen by the teacher.

These meetings are designed to gather Superkids teachers together to share successes and address identified areas of need, such as small-group instruction, diagnostic teaching, differentiated instruction, and the reading-writing connection.

This training takes participants deeper into the online materials in the Superkids teacher portal and explores their many potential applications for classroom instruction.

To ensure continued success with the Superkids Reading Program, we recommend the following services after the initial implementation school year.

This half-day session (or 90-minute webinar) prepares teachers who are new to Superkids or new to a grade level to implement the program.

Standard Services Pricing

  • $2,300 per day for coaching visits; $2,700 per day for other standard services
  • Pricing is for one trainer/facilitator. Quotes for more than one trainer are available upon request.
  • Discounts may be available for multiple services.

* K–2 adoptions with fewer than 10 teachers or in remote locations will receive implementation training via webinar or online videos and support by phone or e-mail.
