Pam Allyn is an award-winning education innovator, author of books for families and educators, public speaker, and thought leader in the confluence of social-emotional learning and literacy development.
She is the founder of Dewey, a family learning initiative, and the widely acclaimed global nonprofit organization LitWorld. Pam has proven success in creating and scaling programs such as LitCamp and World Read Aloud Day.
Her areas of interest include Educational Equity, Literacy, Power of Reading, Children’s Own Stories, Learning Standards, Motivational Strategies to Reach All Children, and more. Pam is the author of over 25 books for educators, leaders, and families on reading, writing, and learning. In addition to Mindscapes, she and Dr. Ernest Morrell are co-authors of Every Child a Super Reader.
Ernest Morrell is the Coyle Professor in Literacy Education and Director of the Center for Literacy Education at the University of Notre Dame.
He is also director of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) James R. Squire Office for Policy Research in the English Language Arts, an elected Fellow of the American Educational Research Association, a past president of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and a co-convener of the African Diaspora International Research Network.
His areas of interest include Critical Pedagogy, English Education, Literacy Studies, Postcolonial Studies, popular culture and education across the African Diaspora. In addition to Mindscapes, he and Pam Allyn are co-authors of Every Child a Super Reader.
Authors Allyn and Morrell chose the six Mindscapes in the program—Sunrise, Pond, Lightening, Mountain, Rainfall, and Forest—to serve as visual tools to introduce and reinforce a common language that helps students take control of their learning.
